The Heiva is a unique prestigious event in the world! It means in Tahitian: game, leisure, festivities, sharing. The Heiva in Tahiti is an each years Polynesian islands event , the highlight is the dance competition. It is a true international reference since it has 133 years of existence, with other versions created in the United States, Mexico and Japan, and helped to popularize the famous vahine and the Ori Tahiti (Tahitian dance) .
Since 2014, Europe got its official Heiva Heiva i Paris, largest Tahitian dance festival in Europe, and European official stage of Tahitian Dance World Championship to be held from November 2015 in Tahiti.
Thus, the Festival brings together once a year in the capital’s best dancers, dancers and troops in Europe. Some come from further afield, such as America, Asia and Oceania. The artists will then perform on stage in front of the audience and a jury of exception, offering an intense emotions show as a journey in Polynesia. The winners win the title and prestige engrave their names in the history of Tahitian dance. They earn an Air Tahiti Nui airline ticket to have the honor of representing the continent of Europe at the Ori Tahiti World Championship in Tahiti.
Innovations are expected with the opening of a new category: the Otea Troops. The event will be presented by artist Ken Carlter producer, which promises plenty of show. The jury remains the same, composed of personalities Manouche Lehartel, Tumata Robinson, Joelle Berg, Moena Maiotui and Tuarii Tracqui. There will also have special guest since the professional group Tahiti Ora will be present, signing its return of Troop in France since its last 2 tours in France.
