Created in 2013, it was during Tahia CAMBET dance school that a great friendship have been formed between the 4 artists. They all had different ways – Maruina FLORES learnt the Ori Tahiti during 12 years at the Artistic Academy of French Polynesia and maintains her professional level in Paris dance schools; Melina Wamytan began dance at the age of 6 and carve a successful career, particularly with Maeva Tahiti troupe. Tahia also dance since she was child and when she was only 14 she entered into the famous dance troupe ‘Les Grands Ballets of Tahiti‘, before getting the gold medal of the Artistic Academy of FP. Teacher, choreographer and artistic director, she accrues the international talents and experiences. Poerava is issued from a training combine of ballet and figure skating, her perseverance in the tahitian dance makes her an exceptional dancer. Thanks to these different paths, Melina, Tahia, Maruina and Poerava have forged their own personality, each of them is characterized by an element: air, earth, water and fire. These four elements, these four personalities unite to forme, like Tahiti, another pearl; the Association ‘O Tahiti Nui. Directed by Tahia, this is where the talents complement to reviving the Tahitian culture in Paris. It’s obviously through the dance that the dancers will make you discover the culture. A dance developed from traditional knowledge of the Academy of FP, subtly altered by the creativity of artists. Between authenticity and modernity, ‘O Tahiti Nui is distinguished by its style and its own vision of the Ori Tahiti.
