    Registrations from September 26, 2015

The Ori Tahiti Nui Solo Competition has been created by Tumata Robinson in 2012 and quickly joined by Manouche Lehartel, a Tahitian dance contest open to all the male and female dancers from Tahiti and all around the world, presenting itself as individual dancer or under companies or Tahitian dance schools. It takes place in the beautiful island of Tahiti.

The two organizers explain that this competition aims to support the preservation, development, promotion and the recognition of the Polynesian culture, in particular the Ori Tahiti (Tahitian Dance), music and craft-art in Polynesia and around the world.

This international competition has grown over the years; Tumata always wishing put forward young talent, and also expand the cultural tourism. The first edition was for the soloist ‘otea’ (performance of 1”30 for the young and 2”00 for the adults). The second edition has integrated the ‘Mehura’ contest (slow aparima) with formations of 5 artists (minimum age 16, performance between 2 and 3 minutes).
