After having been prohibited for many years by the missionaries, Tahitian dance made its big come back in the 1960’s thanks to the passion and enthusiasm of teacher Madeleine Moua. “Heiva i Tahiti” is to be seen at least once when traveling to Tahiti! The entire population of the islands of Tahiti gather for weeks to pay homage and to celebrate traditional Tahitian dance, music, and song. Dance troops from the islands will compete for many coveted titles.
